I said the same thing in a article about a month ago - that exactly the same arguments apply to discriminating according to sex in auto insurance and pension benefits, and that the two should be handled consistently. Two people replied (by mail) to my article. Both agreed that the handling should be consistent. One thought that discrimination (this isn't necessarily a negative word) was appropriate in both circumstances, the other thought that there should be no sex-based discrimination. Make of this what you will.
