Unfortunately for Fritz, choosing a woman for Veep is not a totally smart thing to do. According to pollsters, the place where he's strongest, the south, has adverse reaction to a woman on the ticket. In addition, NOW's policies, like gay rights for example, are being put into the Democratic Party Platform---- and you can just imagine what the reactions of the people in Dade County, Florida would think of that! I agree with NOW's additions to the platform, but I'm saying that enough people don't, making it politically unwise to adopt *all* of their additions. And the addition of Geraldine Ferraro (although a wonderful gesture) is not going to help Mondale win this one. This has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not I believe it's "time" a woman was put up for V.P. (I do.) People are most likely to vote their pocketbooks/wallets--- and what have the democrats done for them lately? Be real, people. If the democrats are to beat the present adminsitration, they have to have a man on the ticket. It cuts down on the controversy. And, if you ask me, (yes, I know, you didn't :->) Mondale didn't make too bad a choice in Ferraro, but there are many other men that would have made MUCH better running mates, politically speaking. Sorry to have to disagree with a woman on the ticket this time 'round, but I'm doing so for purely practical reasons.
