It was an American called Will Rogers who said "All men are ignorant, only on different subjects". He said it a sufficiently large number of years ago that I'm sure he included women. For "ignorant", it is easy to substitute the relevant word - such as "bigoted", or "guilty", or "immature". Perhaps we could all bear this in mind ? Personally, I am irrationally biassed against all people who do not spell words as recommended in the Oxford English Dictionary. I don't spill my ire all over the poor, long-suffering net audience. Sigh. I thought I was young, but it's conversations like these recent ones that make me feel very old (which, in case it needs pointing out, also comes under the "mature/immature" smugness). -- Nigel Sharp [noao!sharp National Optical Astronomy Observatories]
