References: It's too soon to draw any inference from Vanessa William's failure to sue. It takes a lot of time to prepare even a very simple suit, and the statute of limitations isn't so short that one should risk making a wrong legal move by moving too soon. On the other hand -- apparently there is another set of nude photographs, by another photographer, for which there may be a release, which may "surface" sooner or later. VW says she didn't mention these previously becuase she hoped they had all been destroyed, but that that isn't the case. - Toby Robison (not Robinson!) allegra!eosp1!robison decvax!ittvax!eosp1!robison

Why do I keep reading here that Vanessa Williams isn't suing? (And the next sentence usually implies that this shows that she was wrong to begin with.) According to at least two articles I've seend in the newspaper she IS suing - both Penthouse and the photographer - for $10,000 plus the profits. I don't know where she came up with $10,000. It seems like she should have started with a million or so. Sue Brunkow ...seismo!uwvax!maccvax!consult

Yesterday's Washington Post people column mentioned that Ms. Williams is in the process of filing suit against both the photographer and Penthouse Magazine. Nancy Miller (miller@nlm-mcs.arpa)

I think I must have missed something: Why should Vanessa think she could win a law suit? -- ------------------------- Jay Mitchell ihnp4!ihu1h!ajaym -------------------------
