If I had a nickel for every person in this discussion group that asserts "rape is not a sex crime, it is a crime of violence," I'd be rich. Is this intended to imply that since violence is common during bank robberies that bank robberies have nothing to do with money? The sort of articles that have been posted to the net of the "rape is not sex" variety involve a rather superficial analysis of rape. Rape is 100% involved with sex, and preventing rape seems impossible without a clear understanding of its motives and nature.

No, but bank robberies are motivated at least as much by love of violence as by love of money. The above quote is in defense of the assertion that rape is not at all a crime of sex or lust, just pure violence. This argument only holds up if there is a non-violent way of having sex with an unwilling female. If there are no women willing to have sex with you, that you can afford, anyway, then how do have sex with them against their will without violence and intimidation? Do you assume there are no guys out there who are so desperate for sex that they will force a woman into it? To assume the motive for all rapes is just violence is insane.
