The interesting thing about the more plausible choices offered (roue', rake,
libertine) is that all of them are far from common usage (although "slut"
isn't too common any more either). Correspondingly, consider "nymphomania".
How many of you know the male form of this? (It's "satyriasis", which isn't
common even in its abbreviated form---almost everyone will understand if
you call a woman a nympho, but if you call a man a satyr probably 90% of
your audience won't even know what you're talking about.) Think what that
says about language and cultural beliefs. . . .
