[net.women] Re Rape

zubbie@ihuxq.UUCP (jeanette zobjeck) (09/28/84)

Although I may seem to be looking at this from a very biased view
I think that punishment ought to fit the crime.

Apt punishment for rape -- sex change (enforced as needed by the courts)
seems like sooner or later one rapist would be found by another

Um, sex change as a punishment for rape?

Assumption #1.	Most rapists are men.
Conlusion:	The sex change for the rapist would be from male to
		female.

Extrapolation:	Becoming female is a punishment. (?)

You almost get the feeling that the idea behind this is that being a woman
is *so* dreadful that men would avoid being rapists so that they wouldn't
be forced into becoming women?

Ugh

Of course, in some cases it is a decided improvement :-)

I did not mean to imply that being a woman was terrible only that it would be
an ironical situation in which to place anyone with so little regard for
women.
If you would understand any one you must first walk a mile in
that persons shoes.
The essence of rape implies that the rapist considers women as mere
things to use for his own self-gratification. The feeling of being used and
degraded with which a women is left have no value or meaning, except to
women and some very few enlightend men.
To place an individual, a rapist, in a position which has the postential
to make the rapist the raped is the point which would cause the rapist to
inflict punishment on himself, psychologically at least.
Sort of an eye for an eye situation.
