I don't know where you've been, or what you'e been reading, but this certainly
was not my understanding of the best guess as to what happened. Certainly the
jury's verdict was that all of the penetrators had raped the woman, although
they settled on a lesser charge for (2 of 6?) who had just helped to hold her
down :-(.

I think the example you proposed is ridiculously unlikely.
