REFERENCE: <27400002@uicsl.UUCP> All I can say is: Three cheers for critics like Siskel and Ebert that don't judge movies by simplistic criteria. Most classic stories/films/books etc., including the Bible include slavery, rape, violence, etc. To call Tightrope, with its strong female lead and only slightly gratuitus direction an anti-female film seems to me ludicrous. If anything, it is one of the few films made recently that trys to deal honestly with the "tightrope" we all walk in our relationships with the opposite sex. Of course, all knowledge/labels reveal something, if only about the person who assigns them. If some group starts rating films this way, bully for them. I'd just like to point out that right now Tightrope is in the process of becoming a box office "item."
