Perhaps ya'll could give me some advice. I have a friend that is really caught up in the quagmire of bulimia and I really don't know what I can do to help her. She started off as an anorexic a couple of years ago and quickly became bulimic and has been so, on a daily basis, ever since. I used to date her and I could see that the bulimia affected almost everything that she did (eg: we would have a date and she would be disfunctional because that afternoon she had eaten a handfull of laxatives). It was incredibly horrible to see someone that I cared for very much slowly killing herself in this manner. I tried everything that I could possibly think of to help her but nothing seemed to. I tried the soft approach (compassion/understanding/support), I tried the hard approach ("Come on XXXX, alot of people care about you, get your sh*t together"), and every other thing I could think of to do. None of these met with much success. I'm not saying that I did the best that could be done but rather that I really did the best that I could. That relationship ended and I have moved to other parts of the country but I still keep in touch and would like to do something to help her. Is there anyone out there that could give me some advice? It would be *GREATLY* appreciated! Note: She is already in a support group and has been seeing a psychologist (psychiatrist?) for a couple of years. In my humble opinion, neither of these are doing any good. -- Jeffrey P.
