Organization: chi-net - Public Access UN*X - Chicago, IL As owner of a company that specializes in video and pinball games which are usually not placed in arcades I have noticed a few things which might be of interest in this discussion. (background) There are several types of video games on the market. These game fall into one of three groups. 1 maze games 2 shoot-em up games 3 games requiring some motor skill Most, but not all, maze games require some shoot-emup ability but the alternative to run and do things on a more sociable level is possible. There are no shoot-em up only games which shoot only inanimate targets. The games requiring a good deal of motor skill can also fall into the other two groups but there are some which place the player in conflict only with themselves and the machine. As I do the field service work (small company) I see the games being played more often than do my partners. (observations) More men play games of type 2 than women more women play games of type 3 than men women who play type 1 games generally do better than men ( even if this involves shooting things up.) looked at as a percentage of location customers who are men or women game usage is about even (conclusions) None from me make of it what you will, I simply find it interesting. =============================================================================== From the mostly vacant environment of Jeanette L.
