Example: license plate rings which say: "Beer Drinkers do it better" "Divers do it deeper" etc.... "we" naturally subdivide ourselves down, from members of the human race, until we can feel superior. Nobody wants to be just average, so they find something that matters to them, and associate with groups who share that characteristic, and then feel smug that they and their chosen group are better than any others. It yields a false sense of superiority to band together and put others down. How boring to be just another human amongst millions and millions. How unexceptional.
