Add the Koreans to the list of people who circumcize other than
infants. I believe they generally go under the knife when they are
about 12. Although a local anesthetic does reduce the amount of pain
initially, I can't *IMAGINE* the pain one must experience during the
healing process! Particularly on a member as dynamic as the penis!
The darned thing changes its size (and to a lesser degree shape) so
often that it must take forever to heal! Consider the difference in
healing period of a cut on your arm and one on a joint (no pun intended).
All I can say is that I'm certainly glad it was done to me when I was
too young to remember!

Yes, circumcision at a mature age is tough. (at least this is what I've
been told). My ex-boss had one at 35 and was in agony for weeks.

Since the clitoris is sometimes equated with a penis (both grow and
shrink, both have abnormally high sensitivity to stimulus), imagine
a woman having even the outside removed. Must be as bad as a
circumcision for a mature male. And since it seems that some cliterectomies
are done on female around age 12......

The Jewish people practice circumcision on male children at
eight days old. In my mind, this qualifies as very young.
