The wobble comes from taking too long steps. When only 3 square
inches of your foot touch the ground (2 1/2 at the toe, 1 1/2 at the heel),
you have to put all 3 of them down at once (or almost at once)
to keep any sort of balance at all. (Just another version of the
bound foot, only not as *obviously* deformative.)

This means short steps. Which lets out the sort of assertive stride
that the dress-for-success philosophy calls for. Or the "I know
what I'm doing" city walk. Or dancing of any sort (remember disco
shoes? Instant broken ankle!)

It therefore stands to reason that heels should only be worn when
you don't have to walk, but can be worn when you want to "look good"
while standing, sitting, or laying down...:^). (in other words, fun
is fun, but don't expect me to do anything useful in high heels)

My personal preference is no shoes at all, but they don't like me to
go into the lunchroom like that.
