I'm a brunette with brown leg hair that's fairly noticeable. I don't wear tights or stockings or pants. (Maybe when I lose another 20 pounds and look good in pants, I'll buy some.) In the winter, I sometimes wear long socks. I shave my legs perhaps once a month in the summer because it makes them seem cooler. I don't shave them at all the rest of the year. My husband says he slightly prefers them shaved but it's none of his business, and he finds me attractive enough that it doesn't matter. None of my friends has ever commented. (I don't work with mundanes, so it's never come up with co-workers/boss.) I do shave my armpits because it seems to keep down the smell. And I've gotten my husband to trim his hair there for the same reason. I shave my upper lip perhaps once a month (and pluck out the hairs between his eyebrows about as frequently.) I also don't wear make up and only cut my hair once a yer, when it starts getting hot in the summer. Then I let it grow again for the rest of the year. Does all this make me a nonconformist? Yes, I suppose it does. It doesn't seem like such a big thing, but then maybe it's easier to get away with stuff like this when most of your friends are roleplayers or SF fans and you live in Los Angeles. --Lee Gold
