>Which reminds me of a VERY amusing scene a couple of years ago. >I was in the main terminal room and a thunderstrike zapped out the >entire power supply system of the computer center. Instant blackout. >The only lights that came on (apart from a quite furious operator!) >were the ones of the countless Oriental (Malaysian & Taiwanese) girls >who were carrying miniature torches/alarm combos for the walk back to >the dorm!!! (Spiros Triantafyllopoulos) In other words, every one of them lived in fear of being attacked, and shelled out money on a (fairly pathetic) object to improve her chances in case she was. Consider their feelings toward a lifetime of such fear. Are you using the term "amusing" advisedly? Sorry for the grief, Mr. Triantafyllopoulos, but your message symptomatizes an insensitive attitude, one which I don't think you feel consciously. (I'm probably the only one crude enough to remark on it in public). -- Oded Feingold {decvax, harvard}!mitvax!oaf MIT AI Lab oaf%oz@mit-mc.ARPA 545 Tech Sq. 617-253-8598 work Cambridge, Mass. 02139 617-371-1796 home

Ever tried to get one for a date? for coffee? for dance? for _______? What I mean is the degree of sheep-iness (i like the term) present. See my previous posting on stereotypes. I have even MORE amusing stories, free for the asking. >Sorry for the grief, Mr. Triantafyllopoulos, but your message >symptomatizes an insensitive attitude, one which I don't think you >feel consciously.
