The company I worked for during the summers I was in college was,
as far as I could tell, USING AA AGAINST THE PEOPLE IT WAS INTENDED TO HELP.
I talked to a lot of young women who were very proud to have been hired,
right out of *college* for jobs normally held by people with at least
masters degrees. C----O would constantly pat itself on the back about
how wonderful it was for giving such a big hand to the little ladies.
They also denied promotions to several women for not having master's
degrees. Was I, or was I not correct in smelling a set-up when the big
boss man came around to tell me that I did such a good job that I wouldn't
have to go to graduate school, that graduate school was for "useless
academic eggheads" ? I didn't have the heart to tell him that I thought
that his job was for mindless technocratic toolheads. It probably went
to a guy.

(ok, I'll admit it--I used my fingers to type that. Has the same effect.)
