I apologize for posting this but I was unable to reach kew by mail. > > It appears to be very easy to forget that this "societal predisposition" > > is the direct result (and not the cause) of biology and evolution. > > This is not a criticism of what Ed is saying but a gentle reminder to > > other posters, many of whom seem to blame *men* for what was done by > > *mother* nature. Or don't you believe in biology; or did you just decide that this was a nice paragraph to try out your flame thrower on? Perhaps you know of a way to allow *men* to have the babies for the *next* three million years or so -- after all, it's their (make that "our") turn. Why do you "get so angry..." when someone calls your attention to the hard facts of reality -- and at whom? No one is saying that *you* must have children; that you must stay home and *care* for them if you do (you can do what one net poster suggested: When you feel that it is *your* turn to go out and be *fullfilled* you can just go out and get a job and if your husband doesn't quit his job to take care of the baby, let the little nuisance starve). Do I sound a little annoyed? Well I am. When people act so goddamned selfrighteous I get more than a little annoyed. From your lofty perch of omniscience you proclaim that "biological determinism" angers you but, of course, you can't be bothered to suggest an alternative. If you read the rest of my article, it should have been clear that I do *not* suggest that biology should be an excuse for descrimination but that it is a matter of some *practical* importance. If I didn't make that clear, I'm *sorry* but I made more of an effort to do so than you did in your flame. Charlie -- All opinions are mine alone...
