Actually, there are at least two national men's organizations that I know
of, and probably more. I read an interesting discussion in a back issue of
"M.: gentle men for gender justice" about the two men's movements in this
country. One of them it described as "masculinist" and the other as
"feminist". The "masculinist" movement competes with the women's movement
and is based on thinly veiled sexism and a backlash against the allegedly
superior position being sought by feminist women; the "feminist" men's
movement views itself as allied with the women's movement (and to a large
extent with the gay rights movement as well, a subject the "masculinists"
won't touch). Both use the rhetoric of sexual equality and it can be hard
for an outsider to distinguish between them at first glance.

By the way, "M." has recently changed its name to "Changing Men." I
recommend it to anyone interested in a feminist approach to men's issues and
a male approach to feminism.

If anyone is interested in addresses and such I can try to dig them up.
