[net.women] Would women please get the hell out of net.women

brad@looking.UUCP (Brad Templeton) (08/16/85)

I read an article that said that almost 1/3 of the articles in this
group are posted by women. This has got to stop! Just who do these
women think they are?

1/3 of the people on the net are certainly not women, since it's mostly
a computer community net. I'm also fairly sure that the owners of the
net are mostly men too.

It's time we set up a government enforced quota system. We should figure
out what the percentages are for the various ethnic groups, skin colours,
sexes etc. on the net are. Postings should be allowed only in proportion
to these percentages.

For example, let's say that men make up 80% of the people on the net and
women 20%. Clearly this situation in net.women with women posting 33%
must be stopped. For every 100 articles, only 20 should be allowed to
be posted by women.

To implement this, all articles should be submitted first to an impartial
government authority. For every 100 articles, this authority should select
the 20 best female articles and the 80 best males ones, and allow these
to go through to the net.

Of course, since this might be hard to enforce, we should put up video
cameras scanning all keyboards that can post to the net, thus monitoring
any attempt to make an ilicit posting. And since it's clear now that most
ilicit postings come from women, we should impose a curfew that keeps women
away from terminals during the night when we don't have enough peopel
watching the scanners.

======================
Seriously, I think that 33% posting by women in this group on a male
dominated net is something to be proud of, not angry at. This group was
intended for the examination of human issues where sex is a factor.
There's going to be lots of garbage and uneducated posting, but then
*every other group has this too*. There are just as many complaints
about silly postings in net.physics, and in that group there are
objective sources to verify postings as silly! You can't have it
perfect here. What do you want, wicker?
