(Jody Patilla) asks: > what are the mother-daughter (and mother-son) relationships > like for the folks in this newsgroup? I feel very lucky to havea mother like mine. I'm 19 and she's 40, and we both understand that neither of us can be the "perfect" mother/daughter. When I was willing to understand about her reasons for leaving my step-father (like a father to me since age 5), she was willing to understand when I fell in love with a married man. Now that I live on my own, I miss our "before-bed" chats when we'd just BS around about the day's events. There are very few secrets between us, and I'm always excited to tell her about my latest "in-lust" or "in-love" crush (she does the same with me). My mother has never been anything less than supportive of anything I've done, and has offered advice when needed. I could go on for ever about how much I love my mother, but I'm sure you get the idea. As a mother or a friend, she's always there for me and I hope that when I have a daughter we'll have the same sort of relationship.
