Most definitely!! I support a Greateful Dead sub-category. I for one
being a DEADHEAD and general music lover, find that the dead are in a
class by themselves and generate discussion not found to be of interest
to others. (You're either a DEADHEAD or you're NOT.) I've held back many
submissions to "net.music" for the plain reason that I'm tired of USENET
vultures waiting out there to pounce on any submission that isn't to their
liking. I feel that the USENET provides (or should provide) a casual forum
for all topics or questions of general interest. BUT, I constantly find
myself reading raving replies to submissions complaining about idiotic
questions, bad comparisions, Grateful Dead postings, etc. Why should one ever
(like some had previously stated) have to hesitate about making a submission
because they're not into reading abusive replies to their own
submission? [This obviously is a general statement made about the
"net.music" and not necessarily related to the formation of a
"net.music.dead" category.] I know there are lots of Deadheads out
there that could (and would) use a Grateful Dead forum more extensively
if it was not part of the main forum. Obviously we all have something in
common ('cause we read this forum), so lets get it together! Either
accept us or get us our own category.
