Last week a cartoon appeared in our local (Rochester NY) paper. It was by a fellow named Toles, a really excellent editorial cartoonist who works out of, of all places, Buffalo: Panel 1: [medium view of the Duckburg Computer School building. A word balloon extends from one of the windows] "A lot of you wonder why we have to spend so much time studying these things." Panel 2: [same as panel 1] "It so happens that they represent a lot of power. And if we want to understand and control that power, we have to study them." Panel 3: [interior view of a classroom full of personal computers. At right, several persons are entering. At left, a PC speaks] ". . .so work hard and no talking. Here they come." Tickler (a mini-cartoon down in the corner): [a lone PC speaks to the cartoonist] "But I just HATE it when they touch me like that. . ." Mark
