Is A.I. a nasty plot by atheists? In a recent report on an A.I. conference, The Globe and Mail (Canada's national newspaper) said the following: On one side are the physiologists and "cognitive scientists", who think the human body and brain must first be thoroughly understood, and then similar processes reproduced mechanically to achieve action and thought by machines. On the other side are the computer scientists and robotics specialists who think machine intelligence is [sic] different from human intelligence. Some of these (most of them profess to be atheists) believe the human being is just an evolutionary step along the way to so-called "super-intelligence".... -- \\\\ Graeme Hirst University of Toronto Computer Science //// utcsrgv!utai!gh / gh.toronto@csnet-relay / 416-978-6277
