HI there:-
It is time that we consider setting up mini-nets within net.ai;
some of the people interested in AI for business and applications in
operations research /management science have recently made some requests
along these lines.
Do you think this makes sense. I feel that setting up mini-nets
will give raise to both increased participation and will give room for
more technical and detailed discussions on the respective subtopics.
I am just speculating....
In order to reach an agreement on the subtopics one may start with
a list which can be posted on the net.ai. I was thinking along these lines:-
* Natural language/story understanding, knowledge representation
Cog. Sc.
* Logic programming/planning robotics.Prolog
* Ai tools and techniques and KB applications, languages,hardware
* AI in Business/Expert systmes and Commercial AI/New ventures etc.
and finally, the general net.ai for general notices announcements etc.
The more I think about it , it does not seem to be a very good
idea. Does it make a lot of sense in breaking up net.ai? Any ideas?stevens@uiucdcs.UUCP (10/18/84)
I already reqularly look at several notesfiles.. what you propose it to make an already difficult task more difficult. --rick

I think subdividing net.ai is a good idea, and the groups proposed make sense. Jeff Elman / Phonetics Lab, Dept. of Linguistics, C-008, UC San Diego UUCP: ...ucbvax!sdcsvax!sdamos!elman ARPAnet: elman@nprdc.ARPA

How does the following simple partition strike you: - net.ai.Announce - net.ai.Debate - net.ai.Advise ... or something like that?
