[net.ai] Good price on LPA's Prologs & APES

wdr@faron.UUCP (William D. Ricker) (04/01/85)

Fellow MITREites, <with the above 'Distribution: mitre' annotation
this won't leave the complex, even in net.ai>

Prof. Kowalski gave the local ACM chapter's first Professional
Development Seminar of the season.
A copy of the view-graphs are available for viewing in my office, 2k153
(call first).

Kowalski's brothers, who are Progrmming Logic
Systems Inc. of Milford CT, were there as his 'demonstration
assistants'. They distributed product literature and a 'special
price list' for seminar attendees.

Anyone considering the purchase of any of their products during April
should copy the order forms I have, to save a hundred or three. For
that matter, if anyone in the company already has APES for MS-DOS, I'd
be interested in getting a cheap same-site-multi-license.

The prices for Logic Programming Associates Ltd. products,
good for 30 days, with "ACM-MASS" on order form, are:

micro-Prolog 3.1 for MS-DOS:	$200 regularly:	$295
APES (Augmented Prolog for Expert Systems)
 under MS-DOS & micro-Prolog:	$250 $295
both: $400 $495

Sigma Prolog for UNIX
sigma-Prolog is integrated with unix, with many hooks.
	 VAX $1250 $1500
	 68000 (didn't ask) $ 695
APES for Sigma:
	 VAX $1250 $1500
	 68000 (didn't ask) $ 695
Combination:
	 VAX $2250 $2500
	 68000 (I didn't ask)	$1200

These prices do not include the usual Prentice Hall book by Clark
& McCabe, since I got one with the seminar. For sigma prices,
a photo-copy of the initialed price-sheet may be required in
addition to the ACM-MASS annotation.

They appear to be quite reasonable about cheap extra-liceses for
multiple computers on a site.
