[net.ai] AI bboard

clark@sdcsla.UUCP (Clark Quinn) (06/26/85)

Mark Richer announced the formation of a bulletin board for articles on
Artificial Intelligence and Education. I was wondering if these articles
would be available on the net. In other words, is there going to be
a net.ai.educ? Or will these articles be in the ai digest? I would be
very interested in seeing the education discussions, and don't know how
to access the bulletin board. Let this be a request for either a) net.ai.educ
or b) these articles to be in the digest. Thanks, -- Clark

In article <916@sdcsla.UUCP> you write:

I second the nomination. I worked with Seymour Papert at MIT when I was
at school there and have been out of touch with the field since. I
think education is the most intesting aspect of ai. It is certainly
basic (as is perception, representation of knowledge, etc), but it
seems to be a little more relevent, and has tremendous potential for
changing the world for the better. (I shudder when I think of how much
time is spent by people in schools learning nothing).

Who else is interested?

Another vote for an educational sub-board to net.ai.

Truly a very interesting subject, and deserves to be accessible
separately.

Add another vote to the count from me. Intelligent computer-aided
instruction is a fascinating, but mainly as yet unrealized concept.
Anything that helps create more interest in this area should be
supported.

Re: net.ai.educ

1) Discussion of the formation of this group also belongs in net.news.group .

2) This is a good idea IF AND ONLY IF the moderator of the ARPA group
is willing to have his group gated to and from USENET. Some ARPA
moderators have not wished the additional traffic in the past.
Has anyone asked??
