LS, The AISB Quarterly, the magazine of the British AI organization AISB, is making an inventory of university an other non-commercial AI groups in Europe. There are already descriptions published of the British and the French AI'ers. In a next issue follows the rest of Europe. This is a good opportunity for more notoriety to be given to the AI in Nederland. I have promised (them) to coordinate the Nederland contribution . Therefore, I have enclosed a request for you, that you write in English a piece on your activity in the AI area. The piece may be short or long. Below follows a list of section headings, that you should be able to keep to for your contribution. a. The organisation: 1. The name of the University 2. The name of the interdisciplinary group (if one exists) 3. The department where AI related work is carried out 4. How these interact b. The people: 1. The names of the faculty involved in AI or AI-related disciplines and their research areas. 2. The names of the other researchers (fellows, Ph.D. students, etc.) c. The research: 1. The titles (and, optionally, a brief description) of current and pending research in areas of AI interest. 2. The title of grants held. 3. The title of AI theses/books published by members of the group. d. The teaching: 1. Which courses are offered in AI or AI related areas. e. The resources: 1. A brief description of computing facilities available for AI research. 2. The programming languages used. 3. The laboratory and other special facilities (robot arms, etc.) Further information can be obtained by contacting the undersigned. If necessary I shall add a short piece on the Nederland universities order and other bureaucratic data.
