(My e-mail didn't work, so I am posting to the net...) There is a very good, very recent book on LIFE called "The Recursive Universe" by William Poundstone, c 1985, William Morrow and Company, publishers. The book doesn't contain any original LIFE discoveries, but rather presents the great bulk of work on LIFE in the context of modern physics, computation, and recursion. Kevin Knight (knight@harvard)
