[net.college] Heckling

keaton (02/23/83)

Heckling is incredibly short-sighted. It is likely to make the victim
never want to come back, and if word gets around then many other people you
might have wanted to hear may be deterred as well. When you invite someone
to give a talk, they are your guest and should be treated as such.

There is always an acceptable means of expressing your opinion. Write
to the person or get ten thousand people to write your congressman, but
don't heckle. Heckling changes opinions about as often as flames do.

It is also important to keep in touch with other people's opinions
whether you agree with them or not. Look what happened when noone paid any
attention to Mein Kampf.

                                     Listening to YOUR opinion,
                                     David Keaton
