[net.college] on getting and missing the point

surely ken perlow could stand to gain a bit more from my
article than he demonstrates?  we are dealing with issues,
not details, correct?

anyway, mr perlow had best channel his efforts into his
french revolution and leave the present to those who are
able to deal with it--that is, if he promises to spell
things correctly.

Several months ago I got into a net.nlang donnybrook with the
proposition "If you can't write it right, you can't think it right."
This being net.college, I'll just say "QED".

If you tuned in late, Glenn (or is it glenn)
posted a rambling diatribe, fraught with grammatical errors, about
embarrassment caused by a nasty right-wing periodical called
"The Review" on the Dartmouth campus.  I posted a reply asking
someone at that venerable institution to teach him some English.

Glenn, dealing with the present is more than plucking two-chord
harmonies on a cigar-box banjo and whining "life sure sucks."
If you can't even deal with English syntax, you're going to have
a hard time convincing anyone you can deal with complex issues.
Effective communication does not simply explain, it motivates.
If "The Review" is so outrageous, make me outraged.  I think I'm
on your side on this issue.  What good does that, by itself, do you?

Perhaps *YOU'D* do well, Glenn, to channel some effort into
studying, if not the whole French Revolution, the life and works
of Jean Paul Marat.  Now *THERE* was an effective communicator.
