[net.college] T.A's in college

hawk@oliven.UUCP (Rick) (11/01/84)

Perhaps a freshman course of Engineering 4, Languages of the near east? Grant
all engineering majors a minor in foreign languages?

Seriously, though, it's tough to learn the difference between molality and
molarity through a thick persian accent. Fortunately, I had the other
chemistry teacher, who spoke english but couldn't teach.

This language problem is serious. At Santa Clara, there is a policy that TA's
are not allowed to teach classes. If the professor can't make it, another one
comes or the class isn't held. TA's are used for labs, however.

Now, that sounds like an excellent idea! Especially in dissection labs...:-)
