With apologies to Tom Lehrer '48:

		Fight Fiercely, Harvard!
		Fight, Fight, Fight!
		Demonstrate to them our skill.
		Albeit they possess the might,
		Nonetheless WE have the WILL!
How we shall celebrate our victory:
We shall invite the whole team
		Up for tea! (How Jolly!)
Hurl that spheroid down the field,
		And Fight! Fight! Fight!

IMPALE YALE.

Of course I am familiar with the BIG game, but why are there
Cal/Stanford references in articles about the annual
South Carolina-Clemson bash?

Apologies to all who, like me, are getting tired of seeing messages from
crazed football fans flood the net just before THE BIG GAMEs. I replied
to the originator of this theme via mail a couple of days ago, asking why
he had to flood the country with his "beat Cal" broadcast.

However, after two more messages came across, the second one of which
stated "IMPALE YALE," I couldn't resist any more. Propaganda has a
nasty tendency to lead to more propaganda.

I only note that Tom Lehrer's song, quoted in the preceeding message,
says something to the effect of,

"Though they may possess the might, we possess the will! (Oh, goody!)"

And the might shall prevail....

(-: I thought the market surveys showed _Trivial Pursuit_ as the BIG game this
year. T'aint in the league with _spin the bottle_ as a party game though :-)

I am truly sorry but, when two teams can top the finale
of the 1982 CAL BERKELEY--STANFORD big game when no less
than 7 persons touched the ball on that glorious kickoff
return with 4 seconds left to win the game for CAL and
of course ruin John Elway's college career ........
then they can claim to have the BIG GAME. Until then
eat your heart out.

p.s.- Sports Illustrated magazine has a recap of that
"The Play" in one of their "Year in Sports Issues"
in which they call it the best play of the century.

Not only in Sports Illustrated, but I was watching "Not Necessarily The
News" on HBO the other night, and they had a clip of that last play of the
1982 CAL-Stanford games. Naturally, they changed the narative that went along
with the clip, but it was really hilarious!!!Glad to see my alma mater has
made the big time!!!
