At Wisconsin, we also go straight from late August through Thanksgiving ( plus some more afterward ). So, until now, I have never heard of a 'Fall Break'. I thought that the Thanksgiving break was the the fall equivalent of spring break. How many other colleges have a fall break? dean

How many other colleges have a fall break? > > dean Apparently, most colleges get time off in October. the way our break is going to work, startng nxt year, is that we get some 4 day weekend in mid-october.... Incidently, the debate over our break last year was fun to watch. The student council had all sorts of psych expert come in and "testify" to the need to regain sanity, etc, etc,... we had many professsors complain that the fall break would be abused (i.e. students leaving many days before the break (which happens to us around thanksgiving))... the result of all that debate was that (as i have said), U. Va. gets a fall break for two years, after which time its effectiveness will be re-evaluated. This mans profs will be watchng attendance more closely in the days before the break, etc, etc. (Frnakly, I don't care, and plan to leave early, since I'm only gonna be here two more years anyway..... eric
