Princeton, for example, have their fall semester finals AFTER the Christmas/New Year break... I always though that it was pretty stupid of them to make us worry about the finals during the "joyous" holiday season, but as Alex pointed out, it is only as bad as you make it out to be. First of all, one does not HAVE to worry about his/her finals during the break especially since Princeton allows a week and a half of reading period after the break to study (or catch up, in my case... Actually, I've always used most of that time period to recover from partying too much... (:-). Also, for those of us who tend to worry and not do much anyway, we could learn not to worry... (I did... after my first year). Finally, if someone wants to study during the break, well, they could...
