[net.college] Drop Policies

djm@nmtvax.UUCP (12/21/85)

Here at New Mexico Tech, we used to have a somewhat :-) liberal drop
policy : You could withdraw anytime during the semester.

There is one professer in the Mathematics Department that often mentions
having had students get in line in front of him at the Registrar's to
withdraw before he handed in the final grade sheets (ack!).

Those are days are (fortunately/unfortunately, take your pick) of the
past now. The current policy is that a class can be dropped anytime
during the first two weeks of the semester. From then until the end
of the tenth week, you can withdraw (a W on the transcript) without
prejudice. After that, you're dead meat.

These numbers are for the Spring or Fall semesters, which are roughly
4 months long, the Summer is a little shorter (basically 2 months).

If I've mistated anything, I'm sure I'll get corrected 2.7818e23 times,
so watch for the follow-ups!
