I had a negative ion generator in my office for a day or so. Trouble was, the negative ions set up static charges on metal surfaces, such as the surface of my desk; every second or so my desk would discharge across an air gap to the metal wall. The result was a cute little "pop" and a 1% chance of my terminal resetting. I have often thought that a cool hack would be to leave one of these hidden in someone's office and see how long it took them to figure out why their equipment had stopped working. Of course, good ion generators probably cause this problem less than the one I had. Cheers, John ("Fun With Electricity") DeTreville Bell Labs, Murray ("Oh God, I Want To Move To California!") Hill
