This story is a myth. There has been quite a lot of hooraw in the media
lately as the people in the public health field try to squelch it.
Unfortunately, stories like this one tend to propagate at about warp 9,
making them tough to stop. At any rate, this stuff about contact lenses
fusing to the wearer's eyes due to an electrical spark was written by
"someone who heard it fourth-hand and got his facts wrong" according to
a later report.
