[net.med] sure fire burn fix

tiberio@seismo.UUCP (Mike Tiberio) (08/18/83)

I used to burn myself quite often (second degree) while working
on my motorcycle. The exausts are exposed and can be quite hot.
One trick I discovered, that prevents scarring and infection is
to immediately tape with adhesive tape the affected area. This
prevents a blister from forming. Since the skin never breaks, there
is no chance of infection. The fluid that would have filled the
blister is absorbed (probably by the lymph system). Leave the tape
on for a week (seriously) when you remove it you will have a layer
of dead skin over your new skin. This works believe me!
