To: Paul Manno From: Joe McGhee Concerning your request for medical software, from '72 to '75 I worked for Technicon Corporation of Tarrytown, N.Y. They had a medical information system which also served as a local network for hospitals to maintain the kind of information you described. They may have ported the system to UNIX since that time but I wouldn't bet on it. They usually went out of their way to make their hardware and software proprietory, nonstandard and non- transportable. I personally worked on testing blood analysis system harware so I don't know that much about it. Siemens of Germany also has a medical systems division (somewhere in New Jersey) which produced medical information systems. I remember this from an employment interview with Siemens. You might also try Dow (Tarrytown, N.Y.), Colter (location unknown) and Roche (Clifton or Nutley, New Jersey) since they all do work in the area of computerized medical equipment. If that doesn't work you can try placing ad's in MIS Week or some other trade journal in the medical or computer field. Let me know how you make out.
