While traveling with a very good friend of mine from India in March, he began having a series of 'epileptic-type' seizures. He had no history of these and ended up spending a week and a half in the hospital in Pittsburgh. After many many tests, he was told he had a spot on his brain and later that he had something called 'Cystic Cytosis' (that's how it sounds...don't know how it's really spelled). This was explained as a small bag containing some kind of larvae that were the cause of the spot on his brain. He was released and told to have it looked at in about 6 months and given an anti-seizure medication to take. (I think Dilantin ?) Last week he had another series of attacks and ended up again in a local hospital with a prolonged head-ache. They told him nothing could be done because if they operated and the sac broke he would die. (Likewise I assume if they don't operate and the sac broke he assumes the same result) It seems like in this day and age something could be done. Does anyone have any information on this problem ? The doctor DID *NOT* reccomend getting a second opioion...very suspicious. This guy is a good friend who now thinks he's going to die. I would appreciate ANY info (good or bad) to pass along to him. P.S. He IS planning to get a second opinion, but he's feeling fine now and isn't in too much hurry because of school. --Mark Feldmark (feldmark at pur-ee...sorry don't know a path)
