[net.med] colorblindness correction using contact lenses

Does anyone out there know anything about the X-CHROME contact
lens which will help correct for red-green colorblindness
(a condition afflicting around 7% of the male population)?
It is single contact lens, either correcting or plano, worn in
the non-dominant eye, which only transmits the red end of the
spectrum. While wearing it, your binoculor vision allows you
to determine colors quite well, apparently.
One problem: it is very darkly tinted, so it isn't good to wear under
dim light, and you shouldn't wear sunglasses with it.

It's been around for over 10 years! Any practical experience out there
with one? I can get fitted with one for around $250. Is it worth it?
