My circumstances were probably different from what you have in mind, but I didn't get headaches from wearing one lens. (I have one normal eye, and one bad eye. They don't focus together, so one seems to get more use in far vision, the other in near vision.) I had to give it up because my eye never got used to having a hard lens in it.
