[net.med] mercury in tooth fillings

I'm home with the flu. To keep myself amused, I've been watching
a lot of non-soap opera TV. I saw an interested short clip on
one of those talkshows like the Today show.

It was about how there is mercury in our silver tooth fillings.
Originally, it was believed that this mercury was inert, once
it was packed away in our tooth. But now they are finding that
the fillings give off mercury fumes, in levels higher than
the state's safety levels for mercury in work places! They are
finding that some people have a severe allergy to this mercury
coming out of their fillings. They showed two extreme cases of
women, one of whom had bad headaches, and could hardly walk.
After taking out her 20 fillings, she was fine.

Does anyone know more about this?
