I saw a TV show about a new medical (cosmetic) surgery called 'fat lipidectomy'. It is to get rid of fat by sucking it out with a machine. An incision (small, like an inch) is made, then a stainless steel tube is inserted into the incision, and the fat is vacuummed out. (I shut my eyes during part of the film clip.) It is not a treatment for general obesity, but rather for the person who is all around fit, but has fat in certain places. A lady on the show had her tummy, saddlebags (hip- thigh area) and her butt done. It cost about $4700, which includes a day in the hospital. The show said if you have it done, make sure someone knowledgable does it, because if too much fat gets taken out, you end up with a dent. This process actually removes the fat cells! What will modern medicine think of next???

What about the capillary vessels that are also removed? I don't know that the capillaries are also "sucked out" but it seems to me they might be. Isn't the lipidectomy a risky process? How long has it been in use? ---------------------- Corinna Owens cbosgd!cbscc!co
