I want to thank all of you who responded to my question on Prednisone. I have since spoken with lots of people in the medical field and have been told basically what I have been reading in this group- that topical use is not really bad-especially if the infection is around for so long. The reason I was also initially concerned was because as my eye doctor first perscribed them he mumbled under his breath "gee I hate to give you this stuff..." But, alas, my eye is cured now. Staying out of the chlorine water in the local filthy pool, allong with the drops has worked. NOW, just to keep this newsgroup going how about a new topic....my LATEST injury....tendonitus (tendonitis?). I am going to start believing that those that don't exercise are actually healthier! I have developed it between my wrist and my elbow. The orthopedic doctor (who I went to for my bursitis a few months ago) put my arm in a cast for 18 days. He said rest is the best thing for it. Any experiences with how long this sort of thing takes to heal? The tendons sort of creaked when I tried to move them and hurt like crazy! Maybe I ought to just go back for a medical degree if I am going to keep getting these things wrong. Again ...thanks for all the responses to my question on prednisone. signed The Walking Band-Aid

I can only pass on our daughter's experience. She is a competent pianist who has studied since age 5. At age 14, she developed tendonitis in the tendons from her fingers across her right knuckles. She saw several hand specialists in Baltimore. Basically, there was nothing to do but wait until the pain subsided and use of the right hand returned. Not incidentally, this was an emotionally traumatic time of her life (how would you like to be a 14 year old girl?). Since she has matured emotionally (now age 20), there is no tendonitis and only occasional joint and muscular fatigue from prolonged playing. I don't know if this helps but I offer it for what it's worth.
