Nf-From: hpfcla!ajs Jul 16 16:32:00 1984 Let's hear it for electronic forums! Two weeks ago I posted some questions about sunburns, and in a short time five responses and two letters turned up. Of course, none of the respondents were (or appeared to be) experts in the field, but it's fun to compare notes anyway, and I sure got some good ideas from it. Thanks for joining in. Which leads me to one more question on the subject. I've been wondering why sunburns-to-be are never painful until hours after it's too late to prevent them. That seems rather pointless. You'd think that people who could get some warning of trouble would have less of it, and pretty soon their genes would spread through the population. (People seldom die of sunburn, but it sure could cut down on the repro rate!) Let's see some speculations on that one. I myself haven't the slightest idea why we should work that way; it seems kind of backwards... Alan (once burned, twice burned, ... never learns) Silverstein
