My girlfriend used to wear soft contacts, and used a "cooker". She thought it was the best way to go - no nasty chemicals, just put them in in the evening, push the button, and take them out in the morning. When we went camping, she would just drop them (in an appropriate container) into the coffee water (before adding coffee, of course) for a few minutes to achieve the same effect. =Spencer

I too was allergic to the mercury compound in the cold diinfecting solution. But I switched to the heat disinfecting system and haven't had a problem since. Glenn (at Fortune)

I have been wearing extended lenses for almost two years now. My major complaint is that they do not stay clean. I am wearing my second pair now and its almost time for a new pair. For some reason they grow protein deposits. In time these deposits irritate my eyes and hence the need to buy new lenses. At $180 every nine months it gets expensive. Mine are the type you wear for a week. I never take them out unless I am going swimming. I still love them, its great to be able to see when I wake up in the morning.
