Last week, I placed the miscarriage rate at 5-10 rather than 25% as noted and contested, with the caveat that if I came accross better info I'd relay it. Well, I did. The number is closer to 15% (1 in 6, OK). This includes defective zygotes (only several hundred cells) which are fairly common due to chromosome mispairing in the egg, the sperm, or multiple fertilization. The 15% may be an underestimate, since this stage of pregnancy is within 3-4 weeks of fertilization, so may be confused with a delayed menstruation (not an uncommon event) But by now, I'm sure there are other articles on the net as well... -- Craig Werner !philabs!aecom!werner What do you expect?
