[We let the weirdness in!] There is a very interesting bit of weirdness at the end of the song "Leave It Open" on Kate Bush's album "The Dreaming". At the end of the song a voice comes in singing "We let the weirdness in", and this repeats until fade-out. If you play this part backwards, the voice singing "We let the weirdness in" sings instead "And they said they wouldn't let me in". This is incredibly strange! Not only is this a vocal part that forms words when played both forwards and backwards, but the backward meaning is the opposite of the forward meaning! The closest thing I've heard to this is on "Revolution 9" on "The BEATLES". Here the words "number nine" when played backwards say "turn me on dead man". There are some that claim that this phenenom on "Revolution 9" is totally accidental. I find this hard to believe in light of the song "Glass Onion", but no one who has heard what I am talking about on "The Dreaming" could reasonably claim that it was accidental on "The Dreaming"! My question is how the hell did Kate Bush (and the Beatles) do this? Does anyone know how one would go about creating a a recording with a single voice that forms meaningful words when played in both directions? Someone mentioned "Rolf Harrison" in reference to one of the worst songs of all time. His name is really "Rolf Harris", and he may not be able to write good music, but he can sure play one mean digeridu. Check it out on Kate's song "The Dreaming". P.P.S. Whoever recomended Faust and/or Tuxedo Moon, thanks mucho millions! I picked up some of each of their stuff and it's all really first rate. I'm forever in debt. P.P.P.S. Hey, Kate Bush fans out there! If Dead Heads can get their own newsgroup, we should be able to too. I'm sure I'm as fanatical about Kate Bush music as a Dead Head is about the Dead. (And much more more rightly so! :-)) Any other fanatic fans out there? Well post your obscure Kate Bush trivia! Did you know that there are at least five different Kate Bush fanzines? Did you know that Kate Bush had planned to come to the U.S. in '83? The Kate Bush Mini LP was released as promotion for her visit to the U.S. But it turned out she didn't come because the QEII wasn't working (and she doesn't like to fly)? Was this at the same time as the Faulklands War? If it was then the horror of that war is much worse than just a few hundred people killed! (Does anyone know how she got to the U.S. to do the Saturday Night Live show in '78?)
